The "I wish I can consolodate IRAN Issues" Thread . . .

We must have about ten threads touching on issues involving Iran and none of the recent ones are aptly named to act as a vessel for further discussion.

As the various Iran proxy wars continue, one thing we are seeing is a glimpse of their war-making capabilities.

Can we continue to stave off eventual war centered on Iran?

It is becoming increasingly more difficult . . . assuming all sides stay on the current path.

I don't think we, the U.S. and our allies, placate them?

So what next?

Ummm.

Do you like having the dollar be the world's reserve currency? Able to borrow like thieves?

That is what is at stake when the King of Saudi Arabia puts in the call for US firepower.

They should have followed up that hit with "I Wracked My Brains."

And before anyone challenges my use of "wrack," there is this:

Ya but they aren't taking the steps to make SA a nation-state nor increase their population to match iran.

The thing I would be doing if I were King of SA is converting desert to irrigated land to increase my population, then I can stand up to the other bullies in the region without requiring Uncle Sugar to back me. Instead they pile on the loyalty money to tribes without getting them onboard with the national identity or military service.

I could see Iran getting armed by China to go overrun SA, it would be a multidimensional play against several basis of American power.

I wonder how deep he'd need to drill to get enough water for that

Massive desalination.

Then once you get a large enough area planted instead of desert, more rainfall will come.

Without US air power and US air power tech Saudi Arabia would lose this war fairly quickly. SA military is complete shit on the ground.

That’s why they’ve just been bombing the shit out of Yemen indiscriminately the past however many years, killing huge swaths of civilians. It’s the only successful move they can make. But then they wonder why groups like the Houthis are welcomed.

This is pretty clever if it works . . .

SANDY FIELDEN, ANALYST AT MORNINGSTAR:

“It takes 19-20 days to ship Ras Tanura (Saudi) to Singapore, but 54 days from Houston to Singapore. So U.S. ‘relief’ will take time. The real issue here is how much stocks the Saudis have to supply the market until their production is fixed. .

“The obvious short-term fix would be waivers on Iran sanctions, but politically that’s a hard pill for the Trump administration to swallow. By all accounts the Iranians have tankers full of storage ready to go.

Gas prices have not changed here.

Gas prices have not changed here.

That's because we have a law prohibiting gas export, precisely to insulate from world shocks.

But it will eventually affect us.

Ok but years ago when we were so dependant on OPEC, Saudi oil, and the speculative markets we would see price changes overnight.

I sure hope that this is an exaggeration:

RIYADH/DUBAI/LONDON (Reuters) - Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi group said it attacked two plants at the heart of Saudi Arabia’s oil industry on Saturday, knocking out more than half the Kingdom’s output, in a move expected to send oil prices soaring and increase tensions in the Middle East.

Wouldn't that be an act of war on the part of IRAN?

Does anyone really think it was the Houthis?
