Florida divers removed 36,187 invasive lionfish from state waters during this year’s Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Lionfish Challenge, setting a record for the statewide tournament, according to FWC.

The challenge drew 533 registered participants, who logged 1,468 dive trips. The total topped last year’s catch of more than 30,000 lionfish, the agency said. The 2026 competition ran from May 22 through Sept. 14.

@Gators1

The first story was really good.

I haven't read far into the second one, but it seems like one of those 'copycat stories' one reads about.

Haven't got time to read it all right now but what I read was good. Then there was this part at the start:

The river cuts through an ancient tropical rainforest that hosts one of the world’s most diverse ecosystems: rare ribbonwood trees, musky rat-kangaroos, and six-foot-tall southern cassowary birds.

I don't know what the fuck a "musky rat-kangaroo" is but it doesn't sound appealing.
