NOT an opinion piece.
Does trump believe in this?
If not then it's not real!!! Messiah!!!
@kilemallsaidin@kilemallOk so let's take all this as 100% fact.
Are you prepared for the downgrade to preindustrial civilization and the genocide, benign or planned, that would be required to end carbon/methane release?
I'm sure you know that at least in a number of scenarios/models a reasonable reduction of CO2 generation is sufficient. Imagine the scale of society's effort that was put into large projects last century (New deal, WW1 production, WW2 production, chinese whatever, "building of communism"). Imagine a comparable effort to lower CO2 production or reclaim CO2 from the air. I'm not saying that is likely to happen, but I'm saying it's not the same as turning off all factories and killing all people.

We actually had vegan or vegeterian burgers in our cafeteria made of I think beetroot and they were really amazing. So good i'd take it over their meat ones 10/10 times. Afterwards I got quite excited about vegetable burgers and every single time I tried something like that elsewhere it was horrible :(
Or lets imagine ..that we all blame each other for doing nothing .....we blame the Chinese and the Chinese point the finger back at us..saying its a problem created by the west and why should they do anything if we aren't...and CO2 emissions just continue to rise!!
oh wait..we don't have to imagine! ..don't worry though its all just a big conspiracy

Ok I won't worry if it's just another conspiracy. They are everywhere these days. Can cow farts melt steel beams?

yes.

This is actually pretty good kebab-meat substitute:

That's a cop out as much as saying oh look here I have snow global warming is a lie.
So lets say we DO what we 'must', what does that look like?
I think it involves at least a billion deaths and far less freedom, economically/mobility/land usage, and that's the nice scenario.

cop out my ass.... the truth....is we aren't doing enough not even close ....and we aren't likely to anytime soon....so by the time we ever get our act together what that will look like will actually depend on.... when That is. meanwhile...the temperature is rising.

I read somewhere the other day (maybe here) that some study had suggested the most effective way to combat it would be to plant a trillion trees. I'm down with that (ie paying for it).
I think the suggestion that we can’t reach a period of sustainment or possibly even roll back the seemingly long-lasting damage we have done without killing off major portions of our population is a tunnel visioned way of looking at it. I think the technological advancements and economic changes are the easy parts. They merely require effort, money and putting the right people in place to spearhead and drive the changes. The hard part is changing the modern value systems and philosophy that has gotten us here.
