Space shit
Was in two mission control centers today. First was the operational mission control that operates a network of satellites. It looked kind of like the NORAD thing with 4 rows of terminals to monitor shit and 4 big screens on the wall showing the operational status of all the satellites. Second was the launch control, which was shut down because the launches are all done. Basically it was temporary and had like 5 rows of terminals and a single big screen on the wall. I also got to see the hardware that runs it all and that is evolving from the hardware that ran the original satellite network that occupied a big ass room full of racks to 4 racks for the new one. Wanted to take a few photos, but it was all double secret. Let me know below if you read this post as I will have to kill you.

I will probably kill you anyway because your Gail videos are getting annoying. I know I don't have to press play, but I usually do anyway and it pisses me off.
Sounds like you're a victim of Jesuit brain control!
I saw the mission control rooms at Goddard about 2-3 years ago and what blew my mind was that they were devoid of people the majority of the time. A probe that costs hundreds of millions and no one's paying attention! They only staff them for maneuvers or incidents, the science stuff can be done from elsewhere.

This one was half full. The network is sixty something satellites and they said they send hundreds of commands a day up there. Not sure what they do though as I don't think they are moving them. I was going to make a Wargames joke about playing a game, but forgot while I was asking questions.

Yeah, communications satellites are basically busy 100% of the time.
Scientific probes spend most of their time simply getting somewhere, and even something like Hubble largely runs its self based on instructions received hours or days earlier.
@jerrayesaidin@jerrayeI'll drop this one here for the enjoyment of Gators! No need to thank me, old chum!
Right back at ya old chum! Here's the last thing you will ever see.
@jerrayesaidin@jerrayeWhoah! Gail is lucky to have Putin on her side!
STOP IT!!!!!1
