Just what do you expect when the Chinese make all of our electronics? And people are worried about being independent from foreign oil.

In an email to Business Insider Wednesday evening, an NOAA representative said the agency is still investigating the matter

Depends on how you read NOAA. If you say No-ah, it would be "a". If you say N-O-A-A, then "an".

A lot of people don't realize NOAA is a branch of the uniformed service of the military.

I like their planes. They say Dept of Commerce.

I find it funny

They have some cool Cessna Citations with side looking radar used to map the coastline usually assessing damage after a hurricane.

Who gains from global warming? People with real estate in frozen tundra that would like temperate .

Who has the most frozen tundra?

That's right- Russia.

And Canada.

Behold, the Polar Axis.

Good thing the capitalists moved so much production over to China to increase their own profits.

It will be interesting to see if China has the money to fund a war. The forces may run away like Afghanis.

Jwilly on OOT is predicting a Chinese blockade of Taiwan after the Olympics but before the US 2024 election. The instrument of blockade he predicts is automated torpedo mines.

What about air? This doesn't really seem very likely. You'd just need one Orion dropping noise-makers at random intervals to make all the torpedoes go off. Also: consider who would be the casualties of such warfare. The people manning the ships. Russians, Indians, Pakistanis. Not really the people you want to keep on the other side.

If China takes offensive action, it will IMHO take it against Kinmen Islands (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinmen), because that is clearly by the mainland and will likely split the world into "that's an attack on another nation" and "come on, it's an island by the Chinese coast".

I remember the Quemoy and Matsu issue from the 1960 presidential debates. I bet TNN covered it as well.

And then the US runs the blockade with a hospital ship or a freighter full of baby food.
