Fucking windows (warning rant)
I bought a new laptop today to replace my aging macbook air. I have almost exclusively used linux on it for the last 2 years. Anyway, I boot up the new machine and have no interest in mucking about with the OS so I plug in my USB stick that has a very carefully and painstakingly crafted linux install on it in preparation to reboot into that. Up pops this message, "files on your usb stick have been fixed". Sure it enough, the Linux on the stick is unusable now.
Wtf? Ask me for fuck sake before you destroy two days work. Idiots. The stick doesn't even have a file system on it you should recognize. Windows is a fucking virus. (edited to remove obscenity).

I went into the bios and set the windows to the last boot option below network boot until I can neutralize that shit.
I'd probably like to keep it. Well, no not really, but I used to boot into Mac Os a couple of times a month for software that didn't work under Linux.

Only nerds use Linux! Windows all the way baby! Clickity click.

so long Slpr

As with 95% of the time I'm angry enough to rant, it turns out I was mistaken. The store I bought the laptop from had installed some antivirus call USB Smadav or something and I'm pretty sure it was that and not windows that broke my USB boot stick.
And I was able to recover what I needed off the stick using Linux on another machine.
So nothing to see here.

Well thanks a lot for wasting our precious and irreplaceable time.
Just for that, I take back my recommendation for using Slipit.
Next time, take a cue from the rest of us here who have never made an intemperate post . . . and think "Is this really necessary?" . . . before you rant! :dale2:
@Jamsaidin@JamI thought this thread was going to be about lack of fresh air due to your windows getting stuck.
I was going to recommend the lubricant Slipit, or in pinch, WD-40.
Comes in an aerosol too.
Does Hog even have windows?
