Been watching the extended versions, and I have to admit, it’s shittier than I remember them.

The battles have zero thought to them. Everything is a full frontal attack. Giant ass elephants charging at you…line em up boys, frontal attack!!!

And the orcs, what’s their fucking point. They have zero use other than zerging. The fucking hobbits were taking these orcs out like complete noobs.

And so much more dumb shit.

I still watched all 85 hours of it.

I just finished the regular versions recently and I'm a lot less critical when watching stuff with my 8 year old than I would otherwise be. I actually ended up enjoying them whereas I've walked out of several of the LotR/Hobbit/Starwars/MCU films when I saw them in cinemas way back.

I had toyed with watching the extended versions but I think I'll pass.

Seriously, fucking long. Think this one is almost 4hrs.

At the gates of Mordor now. For Frodo! FULL FRONTAL ATTACK!!! Doesn’t matter though, the k/d of good guy to orc is 8k to 1.

Mr Frodo and Sam are definitely the inspiration for Broke Back Mountain.

I had to go fwap to hot chix feet pics due to this. They focused way too much on their feet.

Like Tarantino was a consultant for these films.

Tbf, WW1 was the closest reference point for LOTR and that was basically just zerg rushing most of the time anyway.

I spent a week in dreariest Scotland with work, holed up in a remote hotel with so few guests they refused to put the heating on. All I had to keep me company was Ceefax and the LOTR books. I'd read in my room, in my coat and scarf. The books were hard going, but rewarding. Apart, that is, from Tom Bombadil. What in God's name was that all about?
