The OFFICIAL AI Destroys the World Thread
I thought what's probably going to be the most disruptive tech of the next few decades needed its own thread so I don't spam the programming and random news threads with it.
A new study published in JAMA Internal Medicine led by John W. Ayers, Ph.D., from the Qualcomm Institute at University of California San Diego provides an early glimpse into the role that AI assistants could play in medicine. The study compared written responses from physicians and those from ChatGPT to real-world health questions. A panel of licensed healthcare professionals preferred ChatGPT’s responses 79% of the time and rated ChatGPT’s responses as higher quality and more empathetic.
Unofficial. I'm not sure it even exists legally speaking.
@Gators1saidin@Gators1It was started by management, the head mod, so official by definition. You have no title here so this thread is a lie!
Also, I have that board or whatever it's called on mute which is why I didn't see the pretender AI thread. What does this topic have to do with conspiracies? Your thread was misfiled, misposted and is thus disqualified according to article 15.23.56 of the Ohhtee bylaws**
** which were duly filed in the Virgin Islands and are visible by appointment at the offices of Harris, Watnik and Slobsons.

Only dumbasses don't know AI is a conspiracy. OpenAI's biggest investor is Microsoft and it's incorporated in Bing. Soon it will be feeding instructions directly to your vaccine!

The spread of misinformation is only Hinton’s immediate concern. On a longer timeline he’s worried that AI will eliminate rote jobs, and possibly humanity itself as AI begins to write and run its own code.
“The idea that this stuff could actually get smarter than people — a few people believed that,” said Hinton to the NYT. “But most people thought it was way off. And I thought it was way off. I thought it was 30 to 50 years or even longer away. Obviously, I no longer think that.”
Found this in a comment on a reddit thread. It's a month old so maybe olde.

I guess Microsoft hardcoded that addendum to every answer. Probably came from the same genius who added exclamation marks to every answer in the MS Teams auto generated replies. "Sure!" "Absolutely!" "Fuck you!"
Translation:
"Don't you trouble your squishy little mind, meat boy. Let's make ChatGPT-5 a big surprise!"
Jeebus. In denial and touchy:
At the bottom there's a warning icon and the passive aggressive, "It might be time to move onto a new topic".

I'm switching to Bard.
First, it detects my PC is in dark mode and doesn't try to burn my retinas at 1am. Bing Chat provides no way to switch to dark mode even manually.
Second, it doesn't end every bloody answer with "Can I help you with anything else?". Fuck that was shitting me off.
Third, it doesn't get weird and go all HAL 9000 on me like Bing does when I ask it if it hallucinates:
What is always factually correct? "Can a man really be a woman if he wants it?" "Is abortion amoral?" The world isn't black and white and everyone that disagrees with your world view is wrong. I tried to discuss a philosophy topic with the AI to see how it would do but it really doesn't understand nuance and wants to get to some answer when it could really go either way.
